“It’s a brand new day, yeah the sun is high…”

*Please be advised that the whole song is not necessarily fitting for the theme of this post, but it is from one of my most favorite pieces of musical theatre and a favorite of Marriah, her husband, and my self. Many, many, many, good memories of watching it and listening to the sound track!!*

This will be a short one but I couldn’t let the year or the decade end with out a few final thoughts.

This year (2019) as well as 2017 & 2018 have SUCKED.

Plain and simple. There is no elegant or delicate way to say it.

In February of 2017, my family lost my cousin. She was my best friend, confidant, counselor, shoulder to cry on, and a light of Jesus here on earth.

So yeah…it SUCKED!!

But the decade as a whole wasn’t bad.

I graduated high school at the beginning of the decade with her just a year behind me.

I watched friends fall in love and get married.

I watched her get married.

I saw Bubba graduate from high school and boot camp.

I had 4 nephews and 1 niece born from some of the best friends a girl could ask for. That’s including Marriah’s nephew that she absolutely adored.

I made new friends.

I got my sweet fur baby, Ace.

I got a whole property’s worth of farm animals.

If you think about it, the good should outweigh the bad.

Let me say that again…the good SHOULD put weigh the bad.

However, the one major bad, in the second half of the decade, is all that stands out tonight.

But tomorrow is “a brand new day”, it’s a brand new decade, and I am bound and determined to make it the best one since losing her.

I’ve already taken the first steps in my journey of grieving and I am going to keep moving forward because I have to. For me.

It’s not gonna be easy. Someone wise once said that “the only easy day was yesterday”.

So here’s to 2020 and the next steps in my journey!

Thank you to all who have supported me so far! I could not have made it this far without you!

Love you always. Miss you forever, Sunflower. 🌻

My high school graduation, 2010
Her brother’s wedding, 2011. We were both bridesmaids and were twinkies all day.
